New Clover Singing (NCS) has been known in the English speaking community as a trusted source of Chinese BJD as early as 2006. This company originally sold under the name Jeeryama on eBay. Because they utilized eBay’s trusted platform and communicated in English, they were among the easiest sources of legitimate Chinese BJD from multiple companies.[1]
In 2013, Jeeryama went on to create a storefront off eBay for doll sales which was named “Clover Singing Doll Base”. In April 2020, the store was replaced with “New Clover Singing Doll Base”. In 2024, the URL was changed again due to a technical problem which was announced on Instagram. The old site appears to be still active. NCS also takes orders over Instagram DM and email.[2][3]
Earlier in their business, people received responses signed off from both “Christina” and “Jie”. Some users have noted that this is a husband and wife team. Messages signed off from Jie appeared to end around 2010 as Christina fully took over communication with customers. In the current year, many customers refer to NCS as Christina currently and there has been no mention of Jie. The Instagram account belongs to Christina Cheng, based on the account's name.[1]
NCS is a shopping proxy for new dolls and accessories from Taobao or direct from Chinese doll studios, and secondhand dolls and accessories from Xianyu (XY or XNY). The English speaking community often describes her as well trusted and mostly speaks high praises of Christina. There has been bad feedback as well, but users inquiring about her will often be assured she is trustworthy. She operates differently than other general Taobao proxies because she is well-versed in BJD terms and offerings.
The a few of the latest transgressions by NCS are detailed below.
Sending dolls in poor condition
In February 2025, DoA user IzabethS contacted NCS to ask if it was possible to buy a Dollzone 1/6 Little Snow girl in purple resin. NCS was not able to order her a new doll, but was able to buy a doll in stock from Dollzone for her for $270. This price was noted to be higher than the new doll with special resin color.
NCS sent the doll with a shoe box as the shipping box. The inner doll box was damaged. IzabethS opened the box to find her purple doll was unevenly faded and she was sent a doll on a boy body instead.
The head and legs are badly faded and do not match the body
Christina had neglected to mention the damage to the doll and did not note to the buyer that the body was not the one she was requesting. IzabethS contacted NCS and Christina admitted the doll was a 2 year old display model. Christina offered a 20% refund of $70 USD for the damage.[4]
Sending the wrong doll
On June 21, 2025, a member of the BJD Discord (who will be named Circe Buyer) posted about another order mishap. Circe Buyer received a doll that only matched in sculpt to what was ordered. The doll was cast in the wrong resin color and had a faceup that did not match what the studio advertised.
Circe Buyer mentions that it's possible the doll was purchased secondhand by NCS, however evidence is circumstantial. Attached photos can be found in the notes.[5]
The Charmdoll doll was sent in a box from a different studio, Fairy Castle. These boxes often serve as a proof of a doll’s legitimacy, in place or alongside a certificate of authenticity (CoA). Though owners do sometimes throw boxes and excess packaging away due to storage limitations or lack of perceived value, a BJD proxy well versed in the hobby would not take this action unless specifically requested. There are very few reasons why a brand new doll would be sent without its original box, unless one was not supplied by the maker. There are even fewer reasons why a brand new doll would be sent in a box from another manufacturer.
Circe Buyer found a CoA in the box declaring that this doll was cast in February 2022, which proves the doll was also not new. While everything in combination suggests the doll may not have come directly from Charmdoll, its origin is ultimately unknown.[6]
The Date of Issue is listed as 2022年02月25日, or February 25, 2022
The Circe Buyer emailed Christina to express her frustration[7], and received an interesting explanation in response. According to Christina, the doll came directly from Charmdoll, but the color was incorrect because they did not receive enough orders to produce the correct resin color. She claimed Charmdoll sent an in-stock, unpainted doll instead. Christina then took it upon herself to find a faceup artist. She gave the customer the option of waiting 6 months longer for Charmdoll to make a doll in the correct resin tone or to accept the white skin doll with a discount of 40% or $150 USD.
Christina maintains that the doll was purchased directly from Charmdoll[8]
Assuming that Christina values the reputation she’s built up over a decade and the explanation she provided is, to her knowledge, completely truthful, her response still presents a few glaring issues with how NCS is run. The first and largest being that, as the original poster rightfully acknowledged, Christina received an order for one doll, and deliberately sent a different one without consulting the original poster. Regardless of if the doll was direct from Charmdoll or not, Christina knowingly sent an older doll that differed from what the customer ordered, and refused to communicate this until confronted. Second, NCS misrepresented this doll as a new doll with a factory faceup. NCS cast the blame to Charmdoll, admitting to no mistakes themselves.
She continued to urge Circe Buyer to keep the incorrect doll, offering a larger 50% refund and to have Charmdoll produce the correct doll.[9] Circe Buyer demanded a refund, to which NCS eventually complied, and Circe Buyer was able to keep the doll.[10][11][12]
Attempting to sell a recast
Sometime in early October, Deunan’s Mini Spider King was listed for $69 USD preorder on newcloversinging.com.[13] A member of the BJD Discord (Spider Inquirer) noticed that this doll was not currently available by the original maker or anywhere else, and asked the Discord if it would be appropriate to ask Dollsphere, a different proxy service, if they planned on selling the doll as well. The advice was to instead ask the original maker on Taobao if they had plans on making the doll available rather than have Dollsphere do it on the person’s behalf, which is a good practice in confirming the legitimacy of a doll sold by someone other than the dollmaker.[14]

Deunan responded that while the doll may be in production in the future, there were no current plans to sell the doll at the time. Not in stock, not preorder. Furthermore, Deunan only sold the doll in black, white and gray, whereas the NCS listing offered the doll in various flesh tones.
Upon asking if NCS had any involvement with the sale of the doll, Deunan clarified that the doll is only sold through Taobao, and there were no partnerships with any international dealers to sell the doll. Specifically, Duenan stated that “[NCS] is pirating my work” and that no one should purchase the doll through the website’s listing.[15][16]

Because NCS is a proxy and not a dealer, it would be expected that there is no business relationship between NCS any of the dollmakers whose dolls are listed for sale, including Deunan. While this method of sale is technically an unauthorized one, it also isn’t necessarily a problem for a doll to be purchased on someone else’s behalf unless the manufacturer forbids it.
Christina was prodded for more information about the item listed, and she claimed that the maker has only ever made the one doll, and does not have a Weibo or Instagram. However, clearly evidenced on Taobao, Deunan has produced other dolls, has a Weibo, and even a Twitter for overseas announcements.[17][18]
NCS makes interesting claims about Deunan that are easy to verify as false
When Spider Inquirer asked about the doll not being available on Taobao, Christina maintained that she indeed had permission to run a preorder on the doll, stating that “[she] applied for a small group purchase”. No response was given to the discrepancy between the available resin colors.[19]
Spider Inquirer eventually chose to directly confront Christina with the evidence that Deunan is not currently producing the doll. Christina responded that she would mail the artist “about it” and eventually returned with the admission that “[the artist] is not the original design[er] of this doll”.[21]
Christina acknowledges that the doll being sold is a recast, and that it would be “dangerous” to take orders
She apologized and, true to her word, swiftly removed the listing. But her intent to sell a recast doll was made clear shortly after. Within a day, a public comment on Instagram asked if the doll was still available after the removal of the listing. NCS offered to take the order for the doll via email.[22] Two days later on October 17, another Discord member asked if the doll was still available, and this time, Christina claimed that the listing was closed because of too many orders.[23]
It was also later reported on the BJD Discord that someone who made a purchase from NCS received the presumably recast spider doll as a free gift with their order, however this claim was presented without evidence.
Perhaps due to the past involvement of an individual going by “Jie,” and some inconsistency in order outcomes, some users have speculated that “Christina” is actually a pseudonym for a small team of people that run NCS, or that NCS has changed ownership. However, on December 7th, Christina posted a photo of herself and clarified that she is the sole person running the NCS Instagram account. The account was also allegedly hacked while she was away recovering from eye surgery. While no evidence of any account vandalism was evident, the extent of the hack or the hacker’s motives is unknown. [24]
Conclusion
There were efforts to alert the larger BJD community by informing BJD Awareness [25] and posting a summary on Den of Angels. However, the former is restrained by Instagram’s ecosystem and the latter was swiftly removed as Den of Angels has a zero tolerance policy on the discussion of recasts.
Due to the sheer scale of the hobby, there are inevitable information barriers due to the fracturing of the community into fast-moving information hubs that can be difficult to access without membership. Furthermore, because the hobby is purchase-driven and relies heavily on trust between artists, bad actors can easily take advantage of these barriers. Rather than wait for bad news to come out, it is important to be diligent.
It is important to note that there is little distinction between dealers and shopping proxies when it comes to middlemen handling the buying and selling of dolls between dollmakers and the international community. While official dealers with formal relationships often work on behalf of the maker, there is little protection on orders made through a service that exists exclusively as a proxy. The maker typically cannot back up the sales for issues created through proxy orders, as the transaction is concluded once the product is in the hands of the middleman. Thus the extent and quality of service might vary greatly between each “dealer”, even those offering the same products from the same maker.
While NCS became known as a dealer in the Western community, it is unknown if they currently hold contracts or partnerships with any BJD maker. Ringdoll has denied that NCS is a dealer for them. In the past, NCS was listed as an official agent for Dikadoll, but this may no longer be the case. In July 2025, NCS posted on Instagram that they cannot offer after-sale service for old BJD studios. This is might be due to them not having any contracts with them. Still, until recently, NCS has upheld a reputation for only dealing in legitimate BJD. This may have made it easier for some of the issues to be dismissed or ignored.
These issues are not limited to the cases documented above. NCS has been caught swapping customer orders for different products multiple times. When confronted, apologies and discounts are offered, but the trend continues. It is only by chance that the sale of a recast was caught and (hopefully) prevented. Luckily, because BJD companies are small, it is relatively easy to get in contact with the artist or maker of any given doll (or doll item), as any email provided will likely go directly to the artist. If there is ever any concern or doubts about the a seller of a particular maker's product, do not hesitate to contact the maker. The maker will also often be able to verify whether or not a secondhand doll is legitimate.
Lastly, in the age of social media and Discord, where information is hard to curate, it’s important to check and leave feedback in a more permanent place to help other buyers. It is likely there have been more issues that buyers have not spoken up about. This could be out of fear of retaliation, going against the reputation of the company, or simply having your feedback washed away with the thousands of daily posts in your social media feed. This post is the original announcement of the spider preorder. NCS acknowledges that is sculpted by Deunan in the post caption, but also that the doll will be offered in 17 colors (far more colors than Deunan produced). The red circle was added by the provider of the screenshot.

BJD Awarenss's coverage of issues with NCS is limited only to the recasting of Deunan's spider. Furthermore, as a single post, it is easily lost to the algorithm. Also, it is important to note that it's not just that “some” companies are very small, but nearly all of them (the only noteable exception being Volks) are undoubtedly under 10 people. It is also unlikely that New Clover Singing was “fooled” by the recaster.
